My Action Research Plan
After many discussions with my site supervisor, we have decided that I will try and create an effective Building Intruder Plan for our campus. My principal believes that we have a very unique campus location that needs some well thought out ideas for an intruder plan. Below is my Action Research Plan:

What a great idea for your action plan! I feel that you have a great start already. Although we haven't met since I have been a member of the committee, I am member of our campus safety committee. If you would like to contact me via email, I will see if I could get your some information on our policies and procedures.
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea. Every school campus could benefit from increased safety provisions. I am currently responding to the findings of a safety audit conducted at our school. Wishing you much success on your action research.
ReplyDeleteYour research is very important! School safety is a concern for all teachers, parents, administrators, etc. I know I worry at my school and at my daughters. What about adding "intruder" drills for students, teachers, and admin to practice once your plan has been approved. Knowing the procedure but never practicing could cause confusion during an actual intruder situation.
ReplyDeleteGood Job and Good Luck!!
In light of yesterday's tragedy, we all definitely realize the importance of a research plan like yours.
ReplyDeleteIn my district we are "tested" to see if we can catch an intruder on our campus. I don't believe we have ever caught the person. Instead, we seem to be polite to the individual when they enter. We are trying to be more direct about our procedures to make sure the safety of students is our first priority.
Thanks Jessica - great idea. I hope to incorporate this idea in my plan.
DeleteGreat idea! We have been working on the same thing in our district. You may also want to interview the district's police officer or deputy sheriff’s officer for their input as well.
ReplyDeleteCharles, I hadn't thought about talking with the local law enforcement. Thanks for the idea. I will add this to my plan as well.
